Considering the events of the past few days in Washington, I think I finally know how victims of home invasion, burglary or identify theft feel. I feel totally violated. I feel powerless. I feel as if someone much bigger and more powerful than I has decided to have their way with me against my will. I am powerless to prevent it from happening and all the witnesses to the event are so afraid of this huge, corrupt bully, with the insatiable appetite for what sustains my life that they take no notice. I know who these criminals are. I know their names. I know their faces. Their binges have been widely publicized in the media.

Alone, I am powerless and have no protection. I have been betrayed by those in whom I put my trust. The bully will come back whenever he pleases and there seems to be no way to stop him. But, perhaps together, we the people, might have the courage to say that enough is enough and we are not taking this abuse any more and actually do something about it. The bully believes us to be mindless sheep and cowards. Let’s change his mind, together.

Respectfully,

Bill Pelot
